A good example of a genuine U.S. Vietnam War era M1 helmet. The M1 helmet was made by Ingersoll who made helmets for the U.S. government during the Vietnam War between 1965 to 1968, it has a heat stamp number of: 1 - 8512, the chinstrap has anchor & bullseye markings to the clasp & bale connector metalwork indicating early issue. One of the bales has been repaired at some point and has been welded on to the helmet so the repair is very secure. The genuine U.S. P64 liner is in excellent shape and was made by Marmac, ink DSA (Defense Supply Agency) contract markings to the suspension webbing and was made in October 1972. The genuine U.S. sweatband has ink DSA contract markings and is dated 1974, the nape strap is also DSA contract marked and is dated 1965. The genuine U.S. Mitchell cover retains its vivid original colours and is DSA contract marked and dated 1974, it has black hand drawn graffiti to the front for the New York Yankies, the graffiti we believe was done post-war. Around the outside of the cover is a good quality elastic helmet band using original U.S. band material that was assembled post-war. A nice complete M1 helmet and Mitchell cover.
