A genuine World War 2 U.S. Navy officers field bag. Originating from the Army’s M36 pattern musette bag these slightly larger bags were used by both the USMC & USN typically by officers. Like the M36 musette bags it has three internal pockets, two canvas fastening straps to front, and a side pocket. This khaki field bag was made for U.S. Navy use by an officer/beachmaster, its ink marked inside U.S.N along with the makers mark BOYT 44. The bottom snap-tab has been deliberately removed to prevent snagging in the field. Has a fixed adjustable length shoulder strap to back. Bag is issued and in excellent overall condition. A scarce item.
