A very interesting genuine U.S. M1 helmet with liner. The helmet is a genuine World War 2 McCord with a heatstamp number of: 1163I indicating it was originally made in early 1945, the helmet was clearly issued and shows all the typical tell-tale marks of being issued. The genuine chin strap is late war early post war with green webbing and blacked steel metalwork with original stitching. What makes this helmet interesting is the white 4077th on the front, there is no 4077th in the U.S. army as it was fictitious division (4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) from the TV series M*A*S*H that ran from September 17, 1972, to February 28, 1983. The white 4077th was added some time ago and has faded. We have no idea why this was created, most probable would be from a past reenactment group paying homage to M*A*S*H. There is the possibility it was used as part of the production or used to promote the show. It comes with a genuine U.S. P64 liner made in the 1960’s and like the helmet clearly been issued, with surface rusting on the A washers and some separation of the suspension webbing mainly at the front, includes a genuine U.S. sweatband.
