A genuine U.S. M1 helmet. This M1 steel pot was manufactured by R.J. Stamping who made helmets for the U.S. from 1970-1977 with a heat stamp number of: 701, has a genuine U.S. Vietnam War era chin strap. The liner is genuine U.S. made and has a genuine U.S. nape strap with DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) contract number dated 1985, has a genuine U.S. sweatband with DLA contract number and is dated 1984. The genuine U.S. Mitchell cover retains its original colours and is DSA contract marked dated 1974, has some very well done hand graffiti including New York Yankees, Peace Symbol and Flower Power artwork. Around the Mitchell cover is a good quality elastic band with correct foliage colour. A nice complete affordable M1 helmet, perfect for reenacting, and a nice display piece with the artwork.
