An exceptional example of a genuine mid 60's complete Vietnam War era U.S. M1 helmet. The M1 helmet was made by Ingersoll who made helmets for the U.S. government during the Vietnam War between 1965 to 1968, it has a heat stamp number of: I – 6214, the chinstrap has anchor markings to the metalwork. The genuine U.S. P64 liner is in excellent shape and was made by Firestone, ink DSA (Defense Supply Agency) contract markings to the suspension webbing and was made in December 1965. The genuine U.S. sweatband has vivid ink DSA contract markings and is dated 1964, the nape strap is also DSA contract marked and is dated 1965. The genuine U.S. Mitchell cover retains its vivid original colours and is contract marked DSA-1-4650-64-C and is a very scarce 1964 dated cover, around the outside of the cover is a genuine U.S. Vietnam War era elastic helmet band with vivid ink markings to the front. A very nice complete mid sixties example M1 helmet, with early dated components and a rare Mitchell cover.
