A genuine U.S. Vietnam War tropical combat jacket. This 3rd pattern cotton RipStop Poplin hot weather jacket was used by a serviceman in the U.S. 1st Signal Brigade/4th Infantry Division. Being a genuine 3rd pattern it has a back yoke, two pen pockets, no drainage holes, cuffed sleeves with gussets & hanger loop. It has in-country made name (Ciardi) & branch tape patches to chest, U.S. Army Expert Infantryman patch, a in-country made 1st Signal Brigade patch, two early in-country made Specialist E-4 rank patches and an early cut-edge colour 4th Infantry Division patch, the patches show shrinkage (as pictured) and are period to the jacket. Has staining on the front and back, quite typical for a jacket that was used in theater. Retains the manufactures care label, missing the size label, has a DSA (Defense Supply Agency) contract number and is dated early 1966.
