A genuine World War 1 & 2 British 1907 pattern SMLE bayonet. This bayonet pommel has issue markings 'XS' for the The Royal Sussex Regiment (2nd Battalion) who fought on the Western Front throughout the First World War. It has a manufactures date of 1917 and was made by Sanderson, and has a re-issued date of 1927, various inspection marks with bend test & Government acceptance markings, pommel has the serial number 351. Scabbard has a matching number 351 on the mouthpiece, with EFD markings for Royal Arms Factory, Enfield, dated 1917 with Government acceptance mark and a 'W' markings for Waxed finish, scabbard. A nice matching set bayonet and scabbard.
