An excellent example of a genuine World War 2 U.S. M1 helmet made by Schlueter, this M1 helmet has a front seam & fixed bales with a heat stamp number of 146A indicating it was originally made in 1942, and has original OD-3 tan canvas chin straps with raised bar clasp, the helmet has an original field overpaint and if you look close you can see the silhouette shape on the front of a division mark, on the back you can see a silhouette of a diamond shape for the 2nd Rangers, all indicating the helmet was once used by a soldier in the 2nd Rangers before being field repainted to be re-used. The liner is in great shape and was made by the Westinghouse Electric Company with original WW2 OD-3 tan suspension webbing with ink markings, the headband/sweatband is also genuine U.S. WW2 OD-3 tan and has ink markings, the nape is again genuine OD-3 tan with ink markings (C.S.C) and dated 1945. The leather shin strap is genuine U.S. WW2 era and has United Carr markings on the rivets, this type of black-oxide covered brass strap was made in 1944 to 1945. A very nice and complete fixed bale helmet with vivid ink markings to the liner.
