An excellent example of a genuine World War 2 U.S. Navy named M1 helmet and liner. This helmet is a rarer 'Beach Party' variant with yellow circle to the back, the beach landing party would be responsible in keeping the beach fighting force supplied with ammo and food. The helmet is a McCord rear seam swivel bale and has a heat stamp number of 1230E indicating it was made in May 1945, on the front of the helmet is black lettering is the name 'Covault' and under that in back captain rank bars. The helmet has its original OD green chin strap as issued on U.S. M1 helmets from 1943 onwards. The liner was made by Firestone Tire Co and is good general shape, one part of the suspension webbing has had a field repair and there is a small split in the back of the liner as pictured, all original tan webbing with an original nape strap, the U.S. headband/sweatband is post-WW2 OD. Rare helmet, getting harder to find these WW2 beach party helmets.
