An excellent example of a genuine U.S. SPH-4 Flight Helmet. The SPH-4 helmet was first introduced into service in 1969 and saw active use during the Vietnam War as used by the Air Cavalry helicopter pilots and aircrew, it continued to be used by the U.S. throughout the 80's and 90's, it replaced the AFH-1 helmet offering better crash protection. This Vietnam War era helmet is in excellent condition, it features a tinted visor with a fully working release mechanism that allows the visor to be retracted or moved forward/down. The internal webbing system is complete with quick release adjustable chin strap, and the wiring appears complete for the headphones and microphone with the intercom connection socket at the end. It retains the original Amercian Safety Flight Systems Inc USA manufacturers label and has a contract number DSA-100-72-C-0143' indicating it was made in 1972. A very nice complete example of a SPH-4 flight helmet in size Regular.
