A genuine Zippo lighter brought back from the Vietnam War, this Zippo lighter was once owned by a member of the 1st Air Cavalry Division. Like the majority of genuine period correct Zippo's the engraving on the front is tight and features the manufacturers machine stamped base that shows the correct period Zippo logo and date markings along with BRADFORD PA and the trademark logo, on the base of the lighter either side of the Zippo logo two sets of two vertical lines indicating this lighter was made in 1970, the lighter mechanism also features machine stamped Zippo markings. Engraved on the front is '1st Air Cav Div' (1st Air Cavalry Division) along with an image of a bird with the word 'Pouvoir' (Power) underneath that is the engraved text '227th ASLT HEL BN' (227th Assault Helicopter Battalion).
The 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment is an attack helicopter battalion of the Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. This division entered service in Vietnam in 1965 and participated in 14 campaigns and received seven decorations during its 7 years of duty in Vietnam.
