A World War 2 U.S. Signal Corps Army Lantern model MX-290/GV, this untested battery operated lantern was made for use by the Signal Corps to provide illumination for emergency repairs of equipment, it was also used by the Medical Corps in field hospitals, it has a dual function handle that can tilt around, two lamps that can switched alternately, one lamp provides a narrow beam by a reflector, the other provides diffused illumination. It was first introduced into service June 1944.
