A genuine British World War 2 portable communications receiver type P.C.R.3 made in 1944/45 by Pye, Philips Lamps Ltd in London and Invicta Radio.  It was meant as an invasion receiver. During the war, a small number was supplied to resistance groups in Norway, France and the Netherlands, probably for the reception of coded messages that were broadcast via the BBC. After the war a certain number were refurbished which we believe is represented in this one for sale. The radio appears to be working order, by connecting a simple wire cord we were able to pick up AM stations, the speaker is working and so is the tuning dial (small chip to tuning dial) tone, trimmer and band selectors are working too. The cabinet does have some light surface rusting and the case is solid, case measures: 435mm x 280mm x 200mm (17.1" x 11" x 7.8") and weighs 12kg.
