A genuine U.S. Gentex SPH-4 flight helmet used in the Vietnam War, this helmet was purchased in Vietnam in 1994 back when you could still easily buy original pieces, and brought back to the UK. The SPH-4 entered service in Vietnam in 1969 and continued to be used until the end of the war. As you can see in the pictures the electronics/visor & housing/chin strap are missing. The name 'Thang' has been written in several places on the polystyrene  padding, and also the same name is on a vintage embossed plastic label inside the helmet that reads 'TR/U Thang', we suspect this helmet may have once been used by  the South Vietnam Air Force. The helmet itself is in good condition with typical surface marks from use. A very nice piece of Vietnam War history.
